ABC Engagement Across the Course

Affective

Through the duration of the EDCI 633 course, I have been liberated as a leader. I realize that I don't have to depend on my own strengths and abilities as a leader. My task is to get to know the team and their strengths and then make space for everyone to use their experiences and expertise to accomplish the common goal.

Behavioral

The greatest change in behavior is me taking more action as a leader. In order to make meaningful changes for my students, I have to get involved and find ways to partner with policymakers. Attending school board meetings regularly will help me know what is happening on district, state, and national levels.

Cognitive

Leaders are readers. I want to continue growing and developing as a leader and one of the best ways to grow is to read more. Whether it's an article on effective classroom strategies or a book on leadership, reading will strengthen my abilities as a leader. Additionally, getting involved with school policies will require that I have a good understanding of regulations and policies, so an increase in reading is expected.

 Letter to Self

Hey Tracy,
I know the syllabus looks intimidating and you're probably questioning yourself as to why you decided to pursue a Masters of Education. But, don't worry. With the help and support of Dr. K, you are going to learn A LOT and grow leaps and bounds as an educator and leader so let the journey begin. Always remember, "life is a journey with problems to solve and lessons to learn, but most of all, experiences to enjoy" (unknown). So, enjoy the journey. You got this girl.
Aloha,
Me
