Analyzing Our Work

Analyzing the work of peers is not always comfortable, however, understanding the value of feedback and endeavoring to deliver it in a meaningful and helpful (not harmful) manner makes it less awkward. It also helps to have a positive relationship which I feel my partner and I have. I believe my partner's heart is to build others up, not break them down, which is why I value and appreciate her critique.
I do agree with the critique my partner provided for me in regards to responding back to emails and texts quickly. This is an area where I definitely want to and need to grow. There were days during the school year when I left my phone at home which made communicating with administration, colleagues, parents, and students most challenging. Thank goodness for classroom phones, which was my tool for communication on the days I was without my cell. Communication is essential to effective leadership. Failing to communicate in a timely manner not only frustrates people, but can cause them to feel a lack of respect from my end...which is never my intent by any means.
Feedback and critique can be difficult to receive, but again, I trust and respect my partner. I welcomed and received her feedback because I truly believe her heart is to build me up, not break me down.
