Reflection: A Tool for Meaningful Refinement

Thinking about and examining both the Reflection paper and the EdTalk video assignment, I can see that these documents were designed to help me discover and apply my strengths and skills as a leader while on my leadership journey. These assignments were beautifully crafted with the affective, behavioral, and cognitive domains in mind.
Both assignments provide me with an opportunity to practice the core leadership skills (e.g. administrative, interpersonal, conceptual). In particular, my administrative skills were used in the planning and organizing of the assignments and my cognitive skills were used in developing a strategic plan (Northouse, 2015). Leadership happens in the doing and with each opportunity to use and develop these skills, the more effective I will be as a leader.
I appreciate and value the instructional road map of this course. Having gone through the process, I feel confident to step into leadership roles. More importantly, I see value in helping others identify leadership skills within themselves and then creating opportunities for them to develop those skills. It goes back to my newfound definition of leadership as being an invitation to greatness we extend to others. This is my leadership vision that will be carried out in my words and actions.
